I thought it might be fun for each of us to put together a list of things that people might do if they only had 72 hours to spend in each of the towns where we grew up. So here goes: 5 of the top things you should do with a precious 3 days in my hometown: Stone Mountain, GA:
- Climb the mountain. It’s big (the largest piece of exposed granite in the world!), but it’s more of an aggressive, up-hill walk than an actual mountain “climb” - don’t worry, you’ll be fine.
- Look for really tiny clam and fairy shrimp in puddles at the top of Stone Mountain. This is a very difficult task, as the shrimp are… well… really tiny. And this isn’t a joke - these things DO exist.
- Since you’re probably tired from your mountain climb, take the “Summit Skyride” back down the mountain. It’s a Swiss cable car, that offers great views of the mountain’s Confederate Memorial carving! How multi-cultural!
- Fulfill your furry desires at theĀ Yellow River Game Ranch. Feed deer, bears, and other woodland creatures! It’s like a zoo for people who only like forest animals.
- Compete in the localĀ Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest. How much pureed pumpkin can you shove down YOUR gullet? Let’s find out!
Of course, there’s PLENTY more to do, but those are a good Top 5. I hope Sydney can compete!
