5 of the top things you should do with a precious 3 days in my hometown: St. Augustine, Fl
- Take a tour of Castillo de San Marcos (pictured above). The fort was built to protect Spain’s claim to “the new world”. It was built in the 1500’s from shells and sand called “coquina” and have daily reenactments and historical weapons demonstrations.
- Take a scroll down St. George Street to experience the “oldest school house”, chocolate fudge and antique shops.
- Cross over the Bridge of Lions, first built in 1895, on a horse drawn carriage over to the graveyard for nightly ghost tours.
- Eat lots of seafood. My personal favs- Fried Shrimp and cheese grits!
- Take a walk on the beautiful beaches. In fact, walk, surf, swim or just lay in the sun- they are vast, beautiful white sandy beaches that are perfect all year around.
St. Augustine is seriously a one- of -a- kind type of place. I’m sure Sydney and the folks over at 4320SYD and VAustralia would love a weekend there. Maybe after our trip down under, they can fly across the world and see my home!
